In my experience, having a spiral review is crucial to keep kids great at math skills. It’s only after that continued practice that they really master the skills and discovery their own mastery. Our current demands mean we’re constantly moving on to the next task, and so the spiral review helps keeps things current, helps you identify who needs a bit more practice, and helps keep things fresh in students’ minds.
I’ve made spiral review sets aligned with the Common Core math standards. I have 4 free pages for both second and third grades. In my third grade class, I’m using the second grade version in the beginning of the year as a review of previous year’s skills and the third grade version halfway through the year to review that year’s learning.
