Making Words: Hardship, Cooperation, Gratitude

All Freebies· PK-2

Hello, Teaching Friends!

Hardship, cooperation, gratitude … these are the heart of the Thanksgiving story.

Could discussion of these themes be used to deepen your students’ understanding of Thanksgiving, to take it beyond turkeys and football games? Can an understanding of these topics help your students connect the Pilgrims’ experience to other events and to people they know?

Carry the same vocabulary over into your literacy centers with this set of making words activities. For each of the three words, there’s a student recording page with letters to cut apart and rearrange into words, and also a teacher page with a list of some suggested words.
