Since mustache mania is still going strong, I tap into that “hot button” with my kiddos and designed some activities to go with The Lorax, who sports a huge-fluffy yellow one.
They really enjoyed the “What Happened to the Lorax?” emergent reader that reinforces 2D shapes.
To introduce the activity, tell students that the Lorax ate some leaves from the truffula tree and caught “Truffula-itis”, which changed his oval shape!
They can help him return to normal, by circling capital letters, adding end punctuation, tracing and writing the shape words, and then tracing and drawing the shapes.
