Critical Thinking Paperless Journal Prompts

All Freebies· PK-2

Do you struggle to come up with journal prompts during the year? I remember always forgetting to come up with something beforehand. I would be  scrambling after lunch  to write a prompt on the board for daily journaling time. Finally, I decided to create a set to help me be prepared every day!

paperless journal prompts

With these paperless prompts, all I need to do is show the daily prompt on the whiteboard and students are ready to write in their journals!

I also struggled with getting my students to really think about what they were writing. Many times they only copied the prompt and added one or two words. With this set of critical thinking prompts, students have to think about the prompt and answer the question that is presented. Students will make inferences and predictions based on the picture and prompt.

I love how versatile the prompts are too. Beginning writers can write one or two sentences, while older or more advanced students can write a whole paragraph!
