If you know me very well, you know I love having my kids do all sorts of word work. One of their favorite activities to do is making word ladders. Word ladders are a fun way to explore word families, phonics, and rhyming words.
Students are given a picture to write a word. Then, they must create a ladder by only changing one letter at a time. This activity includes a paper-pencil option, as well as a digital option.
I actually like to put the paper version into plastic page protectors so they can be completed over and over again without wasting colored ink.
The digital version allows the students to grab letters from the bottom of the page and drag them to the correct position for the word.
There are also answer sheets included so if the child gets stuck, they can take a little peek or just check their answers when they finish.
