Are you looking for some fun activities to use with your kiddos this November? Look no further! Today, I’m sharing a fun build-a-turkey math center focused on building number recognition skills for numbers 1-10.
FREE Turkey Math Center For Numbers 1-10
Practice number recognition and subitizing with this free math center. Each turkey is numbered 1-10. The feathers show the number in different forms. Find the feathers that match each turkey to build the turkey.
Students will work with numbers in multiple forms.
- Standard Form
- Word Form
- Base Ten Blocks
- Tally Marks
- Fingers
- Dice
- Dominos
- Tens Frames
This freebie has two parts: the build-a-turkey center activity and the color-by-number worksheet. They can be used together or separately. Use the turkeys as a center, early finisher activity, or put them in a morning tub. Assign the color-by-number worksheet as morning work, seat work, or a free time activity.
Easy Ways to Differentiate This Turkey Math Activity
This center is flexible and easy to differentiate. If you want to differentiate the math activity for your class, try these simple ideas.
•Present a few numbers at a time. Instead of working on 1-10, students can work on 1-3 or 1-5.
•Remove the feathers with number words or whatever form your students aren’t ready to work on yet.
•Have more advanced students trace the number words for each turkey or use the turkeys that don’t include the number words for students who aren’t ready yet.
Tip: This center comes in full-color and ink-saving blackline versions. Try printing the blackline version on colored paper to make it pop, but don’t print each turkey on a different color of paper. You’ll give the answer away.
