Since kiddos tend to be a bit energized on Halloween, I make everything we do that day related to the holiday.
It’s pretty simple to include Halloween-themed math activities etc. If you’re looking for a quick, easy and relevant writing prompt for “party day” then I think you and your students will enjoy this Positive Negative Jack-O-Lantern writing prompt activity.
Since there’s a lot of controversy surrounding Halloween, I thought it would be interesting to see what students thought of the holiday, and turn their ideas into a fun writing prompt.
Students write the positive things that they enjoy about Halloween, as well as a list of negative aspects of the holiday that they don’t care for. I’ve included a completed sample if you want to easily make an example to share with your students.
Children top off this October writing prompt by making a quick and easy positive negative pumpkin. Completed projects make an awesome bulletin board.
